Talent and Individuality
Why is it we always buy certain trainers or clothes that have a designer label? They tend to be the same ones as are friends. So why do we have to copy other people? The people we often admire the most are those that have there own individual style. They have no wish or desire to copy someone else's.
Have you ever thought that big companies who give free items to celebrities and sportsmen are doing so to get people like you to buy them. Even though these goods may not suit you or even be in your price bracket. Always remember that the money you spend on an expensive fashion item could be spent on something else that you might enjoy more! Apart from the designer label you may wonder why the are charging that price. Especially as the designer in most cases has had nothing to do with the design or making of the product.
It can be bad quality and badly made which makes you think why on earth they put their name to it? Today the making of money has become more important than developing and using your creative talent in order to design and make something beautiful. So your standards fall and you conform and follow other people's lead. In the end people are just living off the name that they have formally made.
Not so long ago this was not the case and it also seems to be preventing our young and talented people from designing and developing a career in their own country. Therefore not allowing them to develop in entirely their own way and style.
There should be a way where young people can see the work of up and coming talent whose products they would enjoy at a price that they can naturally afford.
Then big companies wouldn't be able to dominate the market and encourage people to spend too much money on their products.
They are dominating the market by dictating to us what to buy. If you go into a toy shop or children's clothes shop the whole section for girls is virtually all pink. A lot of it is a revolting bright pink too. This doesn't allow them a choice of a colour.
Because of the domination of chain stores the original arts and crafts that each country has is either beginning to or will die out. It would be a real shame if these unique handmade products were to disappear. As they are very much a part of a country and its history.
