A Career as a Nutritionist

fruitIf you think healthy food is important and are good at sciences particularly biology and chemistry, you may be interested in
becoming a nutritionist. I did an introductory course in nutrition recently and found it fascinating even though I knew a lot about eating the right foods. The course developed it further. It is something that you should
have some knowledge in regardless of what career you choose as it will make all the difference to your health.
To be a nutritionist you will need a minimum of 5 GCSE's 2 to 3 A levels which include human biology or chemistry. You will then need to obtain a degree in nutritional therapy.
Most nutritionists are self employed. But some do work in research, food manufacturers, health and fitness clubs and even private companies. To
work in an organisation such as the National Health Service you will need
to be a qualified dietician. Although they are similar a dietician deals with the science involved in nutrition. A nutritionist studies the nutrients in
food and how the body uses them in relation to health,
diet, and illness.
Nutritionists help people to be healthy and stay that way. They will also advise the right foods to eat especially if you have minor health problems.
This is because some foods could make these worse. In order to
communicate this you will need to have a sensitive, understanding and
supportive manner. You need to be able to gain the confidence and trust
of your clients as well as make them feel relaxed and communicate
well and not be judgemental. By doing this you will encourage people with their healthy eating.
So if you are interested in good healthy food to help people to remain healthy you might feel that being a nutritionist is a career that you would like to do.
