Madrigal and the Bent Broomstick

Madrigal and the Bent Broomstick by Elizabeth Webb are 8 short stories about a nice, fun, young witch called Madrigal. There have been 3 other books about Madrigal. Madrigal the Secret Witch, Madrigal's Midsummer Magic and Madrigal and the Magician. You may have already read them.
I enjoyed the stories I love Raz the clown doll who Madrigal brought to life with the help of a spell. But he must not come to life in front of the adults as the spell will be broken.
Poor Raz faces a real problem when a witch called Charlock comes to visit seeking revenge on Madrigal. But if Raz tells her what Charlock has done, something will happen to him. Can he be quiet or will he tell everything? And what will happen if he does?
When Raz discovers a mouse in the kitchen he thinks it is a new thing to play with. However Madrigal hates mice and has other ideas.
Madrigal also makes a school visit to an old manor much more interesting in The Ghost of Malaprop Manor.
The final story Beyond the Screen brings to life the story of Hansel and Gretel. This is a clever plan by Madrigal to help give a love of reading to one of the school boys who dislikes reading. Madrigal doesn't just bring the story to life though she also does something else to encourage him to read.
Madrigal and the Bent Broomstick is out this month just in time for Halloween. Proceeds from the book go to the charity Every Child Counts which is based in the Bahamas. The charity helps learning disabled students with education and training.
